What the committee will do
The committee will create a standard to help make tourism experiences more inclusive and accessible for all. The standard will propose best practices to:
- make infrastructure in tourist facilities, like museums or hotels, more accessible;
- design booking and tour operation systems to be accessible to everyone.
Who should apply?
Individuals who understand accessibility barriers in tourism and can bring solutions to the table. This includes:
- persons with disabilities and lived experiences;
- industry experts, academics, standards users, policy makers, and members of the general public.
Accessibility Standards Canada strives to create world-class standards by including diverse perspectives. This enables meeting the needs of as many people as possible.
The knowledge and lived experience of persons with disabilities and other experts is critical to success. Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of this work. Applications from persons with disabilities and Indigenous Peoples are strongly encouraged.
