Tourism Nova Scotia is working to make business listings on NovaScotia.com and in the Doers & Dreamers Guide more effective by ensuring they are up-to-date, visually appealing and provide the kind of information travellers are seeking.
In the summer, we announced new requirements for business listings in our marketing materials that will help encourage travellers to book with you. The new requirements are:
1) All operators must provide an e-mail address where visitors can contact you. The e-mail address will be included in your business listing to provide visitors with an easy way to contact you online. The e-mail address will also be used to provide you with updates regarding Tourism Nova Scotia’s marketing programs.
2) All operators must provide a minimum of one photo to include on your business listing on NovaScotia.com. Effective business listings contain photos that grab visitors’ attention and let them know what they can expect from your property or experience. You can submit up to 10 photos, which should be in jpg format and landscape orientation. Photos cannot include text or graphic overlay.
3) A TripAdvisor widget has been added to NovaScotia.com to provide visitors with peer reviews for products listed on the website. Accommodation and campground operators are required to provide a link to their TripAdvisor page so the widget can be added to their listings. We encourage all operators to take advantage of the TripAdvisor widget to share customer feedback about your business.
Tourism Nova Scotia has requested that operators submit the required information no later than January 31, 2019 in order to maintain your business listing. If the required information is not received, your business listing will be removed from NovaScotia.com and will be excluded from the 2020 Doers & Dreamers Guide. These requirements will apply to all new business listings going forward. All business listings must be updated every year.
Updates for business listings, e-mail addresses and TripAdvisor page ID’s can be e-mailed to novascotia@novascotia.ca.
Photos should be sent to novascotia.com@gmail.com with your business name in the subject line.
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Michelle Sears, Digital Marketing Advisor at 902-790-4571, or e-mail novascotia@novascotia.ca.
