Positioning Nova Scotia on the global stage as a sought-after travel destination, Tourism Nova Scotia works with many wineries to develop new experiences, packages and to attract visitors to our wine region. That's why we were thrilled be part of the celebration when our thriving farm wine industry came together to honour the achievements of wineries, winemakers and grape growers.
During a ceremony at Government House in Halifax on July 10, five wines received the 2024 Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence in Nova Scotia Wines. An independent panel of experts blind tasted award submissions from 29 commercially available wines from 11 wineries across the province. All wines were made with 100 per cent Nova Scotian grapes—and that's always something to celebrate!
This year’s award winners are:
Brut Réserve, Blomidon Estate Winery, Canning
2020 Gaspereau Reserve Riesling, Gaspereau Vineyards, Gaspereau
2018 Brut, Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards, Wolfville
2021 Brut Rosé, Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards, Wolfville
2020 Chardonnay, Planters Ridge Winery, Port Williams
The award is administered annually by Taste of Nova Scotia and Wine Growers Nova Scotia in partnership with the Office of the Lieutenant-Governor.
