Tourism Nova Scotia’s visitor information centres (VICs) are now open, except for the Halifax airport location which will reopen when traffic increases at the airport.
The Yarmouth VIC is temporarily located at 341 Main Street (Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Yarmouth building for this season because the Yarmouth VIC building is being used as a COVID-19 External Assessment Centre.
We have implemented new safety measures at VIC locations, which include installation of plexiglass barriers, signage and wayfinding materials, and enhanced cleaning protocols. At the Peggy’s Cove, Amherst, and Port Hastings VICs, we’ve added a “Curbside Assistance” window so visitors can ask questions and receive information packages without having to enter the building. We are also offering 24/7 access to travel guides and maps through outdoor dispensers. Pre-packaged guides and maps are also available for outdoor pick-up at all VIC locations, and people can call or email to pre-order specific information for outdoor pick-up at the VIC of their choice.
Visitor information centres will operate seven days a week from 9:00 pm to 4:00 pm. All VICs offer public washrooms. Hours may be extended or reduced as the season goes on, based on public health considerations and visitor demand.
Ship Your Brochures
Eligible tourism businesses may now ship brochures to any of the VICs, including the Halifax International Airport. Please contact the VICs prior to shipping anything to discuss quantities and delivery process. For safety, only one laminated copy of each brochure may be displayed, and staff will provide visitors with the brochures they would like to take.
