Higher-spending Visitors Drive Nova Scotia’s Tourism Revenue Growth

Last year was Nova Scotia’s best tourism revenue year on record despite a modest decline in visitation. Tourism revenues reached an estimated $2.61 billion, a 0.3 per cent increase, compared to updated 2017 revenue estimates of $2.60 billion.

Strong Summer for Tourism in Nova Scotia

More than 1.3 million visitors came to Nova Scotia between June and September this year, with many businesses reporting an outstanding summer season.
Peak season visitation was down by about two per cent or 27,000 visitors compared to the same period in 2017, which was a record-breaking year that featured tall ships and Canada 150 celebrations.

Province Invests in Tourism Icons, Including Peggy’s Cove

Business Minister Geoff MacLellan announced today, July 25, that Peggy’s Cove, Bay of Fundy, including Annapolis Royal, the Cabot Trail, the Halifax waterfront and the Lunenburg waterfront will receive funding through the new Tourism Revitalization of Icons Program for significant tourism infrastructure projects. The province has committed $6 million over three years.
